The Banele Nkosi Story: From Volunteer to Changemaker
Banele Nkosi, a 27-year-old Level 3 Facilitator at Rhiza Babuyile at Orange Farm, was born and raised in Palm Springs, East Rand, Johannesburg. As the only boy amongst 8 children, Banele attempted to upgrade his matric to improve his chances of pursuing further studies. However, financial constraints hindered him from achieving his goal. In 2017, Banele joined Rhiza Babuyile to undertake End-User Computing (Information Technology Level 3) after learning about the organization from his cousin, who was an employee at Rhiza Babuyile. His cousin advised him that Rhiza Babuyile would help him upgrade his skills. He started his career as a volunteer while completing his End-User Computing course.
Before joining Rhiza Babuyile, Banele described himself as a shy person with low self-confidence. However, since joining the organization, he has become a more outgoing person and has gained a better understanding of how to handle life’s challenges and improved his work etiquette.
Banele aspires to start his own company one day to give back to his community by providing short courses to the youth who lack access to relevant knowledge and information to better themselves and their lives.
